Spencer Martin was a long-time devoted volunteer whose work still inspires us today. On Sunday, May 5th, the 30 mile ride will wind its way through the scenic Back Mountain. Beginning at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus at 8 am, bikers will ride to help us continue our mission to eliminate poverty housing.
Pre-register by April 15 and pay $25. After April 15, the entry fee is $35. This is a rain or shine event. On-site registration starts at 7:00am. Late registration will be accepted until the ride start time (8:00am). Each registered participant receives a free T-Shirt, a cue sheet with detailed directions, rest stops, snacks, and sag service. For safety, groups may be staggered at start time. Course closes promptly at 12:00 (Noon)
All riders are encouraged to carry I.D.s, emergency contact information, and a cell phone if you have one. Sag wagons will provide water, road assistance and transport to those unable to finish. Please be prepared to handle your own flats and minor repairs. Refreshments will be provided at the finish area. Use of an approved helmet for your safety is required. The use of Ipods or MP3s while cycling is prohibited.
Proceeds from the Bike: Spencer Martin Memorial Bike Ride for Habitat 2013 will be used by Wyoming Valley Habitat for Humanity to help provide simple, decent, affordable housing for qualified families within Wyoming Valley.
